Table Runner Tutorial

Cut 1/2 Yard backing and border fabric
Cut 1/3 Yard center strip
Pin lining up the selvage and stitch on the long side

Notice the pieces are not the same size.  That is because the backing wraps around and becomes the border.
Stitch each side with right sides together then turn inside out.

Making sure the sides are even amounts of border.

Now it is pressed you trim the ends
Trim the selvages and ends to even  the front
and the backing for the runner.

Pin the ends right sides together lining up the borders.
Stitch 1/4" Turn right side out.

This makes the points on the ends

This is a photo of the runner opened
bringing up the end to line up.
This is the back view of the ends once sewn and
turned right side out.  Press ends.
Front View of finished table runner.
If you desire to make placemats cut the runner in half lengthwise and sew ends down in the
same way you would do the runner.
For other ideas keep watching.
Makes the table fun and festive!
