Weekend in Paris by Diane Card

Today's blog post is written by Co-Owner, Diane Card. We thought you'd all enjoy a glimpse into her life...

With a husband who works for Delta Airlines, places that are otherwise out of reach suddenly become affordable and the world grows that much  bit smaller.  For New Year's, Mike (my husband) and I decide to take a quick weekend trip to Paris, with our two youngest sons, Zac (15) and Eli (14).  So what can you do over a weekend in Paris?  You'd be surprised!
Day 1:  After checking into the hotel and catching a few Zzz's to recover from the trip across the Atlantic, our first stop is a free tour of Notre Dame, wandering through the cafes and shops at Saint-Denis and strolling along the Seine River.

As dusk settles in, we head over to Arc de Triomphe and stroll down the  Champs de Elysee.  The evening brings in a light sprinkling of rain but nothing to dampen our spirits before we head back to the hotel.
Day 2:  Up bright and early and on our way to the museum, we happen upon a Fromager where over 200 cheeses are sold.  We sample a few and buy a few to eat with our fresh, French baguette.  It makes for a great breakfast and actually one of the highlights of the trip.
We spend some time at the Musee d'Orsay amazed at the fabulous collection of French impressionist art and then over to Montmarte for a quick bite to eat.
What trip is complete without a trip to the Eiffel Tower?  We arrive just before dusk as the lights come on.
After climbing hundreds of stairs, it is time for a break to admire the engineering masterpiece before we head up to the next level.
Back at ground level, we take a final stop by the Louvre especially for Eli so he could see the glass pyramid.

Just another quick adventure weekend for the Cards.  Up next...Machu Pichu in Peru for a little Incan history in March.
